DOUBLE-DUTY WEEKEND AT SOUTHERN NATIONAL SPEEDWAY'S "NIGHT OF THE MODIFIEDS"
9/13 The team had a busy day on Saturday with a 150-lap Whelen race and a 75-lap Rolling Thunder race. After problems in qualifying, including a broken wheel on the #44, Buddy would start both races near the rear. Buddy did not give up and was focused on getting to the front. Buddy finished 4th in the Rolling Thunder race, and won the Quarter Master Hard Charger Award. Buddy then strapped in the Whelen #02 car and came home with his second top-ten finish of the season, finishing 7th. He received the Powerade Power Move of the Race Award for advancing the most positions in the race, and was also awarded the Sunoco Rookie of the Race Award.
We were hoping to make up some points at this track, as this was a track we have visited for a few years with the Rolling Thunder Modifieds. Buddy moved from 16th to 13th in the Southern Modified Points Standing and is a close 3 points out of 11th place. We took a gamble bringing both cars this weekend, but we thought it would help prepare us for next weekend's 300-lap race.
Thanks to the team for giving 200% this weekend. Thank you to David Archer for coming on board this weekend. Thanks also to Hunter Slayton (#77 Rolling Thunder) for the use of his nitrogen tank. Congratulations to Burt Myers #1 on his win. Next Race: Martinsville Speedway "Made in America Whelen 300" on September 20th at 3:30 pm.

BUDDY COMES HOME 12TH AT CARAWAY SPEEDWAY
8/22: After only a few of laps of practice, we quickly found out that our power steering problems were back. The rest of the practice session was spent locating and replacing the power steering pump. Thanks to Riggs Racing for having an extra pump. A special thank you to Milton Emory, who helped with the pump and filled in as a crew member during the race.
The car got loose during the race, and Buddy had a great save when the car got sideways coming off turn 4 while trying to pass the 71. Buddy ran a good race and came home 12th--our best finish at Caraway so far. Congratulations to Brian Loftin #23 for his win. Next Race: Lanier Speedway, Braselton, GA on Saturday, August 30th.

EMORY FINISHES 11TH AT BOWMAN-GRAY STADIUM
The team was a little uneasy about going to the legendary Bowman Gray Stadium for the first time. We were looking forward to seeing "The Stadium", because of its 60 years of history and the hype, but at the same time we had heard so many stories about the flat quarter-mile track. "The Stadium" is a beautiful facility right in the middle of Winston-Salem University. The track is used for racing for about four months, and then it is home to the Winston-Salem University football team starting the end of August. We could not believe that these 26 Whelen Modified cars would race around a football field. There is only one groove, which does not allow much passing. Passing is done by bumping—a lot of bumping. If you've never been to Bowman Gray Stadium, you need to go. It was quite an experience, and it turned out to be a good experience for our team!
Friday's practice went well after we made a couple small adjustments to the car. We felt we were pretty good in practice--though the track's transponder system was having difficulties. Qualifying went well, and we ended up 19th out of 26 cars. Saturday the rains came, and we said here we go again another rain out. The track workers did a great job of getting the track dry and ready three times from 3:00-8:00 pm.
The race had a full field of 26 cars and was full of excitement, starting with the first caution on Lap 2. Buddy did a great job, having to race part of the race with no power steering, and on Lap 160 was running 9th. On Lap 194 with caution #11, he was unable to get by the 5th and 6th place cars that had spun in front of him. He had to wait until one of the cars moved before he could get back in line. Although we felt NASCAR should have put Buddy 7th on the restart, since he was not involved in the accident, our appeal was lost, because he could not maintain a reasonable speed. Buddy had to line up 11th on the green-white-checkered restart, and would finish the race 11th for his first trip to BGS. Congratulations to the winner of the race--Brian Loftin #23.
Brian Pack, driver of the #81, died in a motorcyle accident on July 25th. The drivers and Brian's family released 81 balloons before the race in memory of Brian. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Pack Family.
Next Race: Caraway Speedway, Sophia, NC, on Friday, August 22nd.

T AND C MOTORSPORTS GETS #02 FIXED, RAIN POSTPONES RACE YET AGAIN.
After being involved in a wreck at Ace Speedway on April 11th, T and C Motorsports thought their season would be cut short, as just about everything from the firewall forward on the #02 had to be replaced.
What an unbelievable week! The end result was the #02 was back at Caraway Speedway for the April 19th race, which was the result of a tremendous amount of help from the whole team and several friends.
We have so many people to thank - Gary Kellogg, Buddy Emory and Tommy Lythgoe, who devoted their entire week (night and day). The three left Monday morning with the GPS set NORTH! Originally set for New York and then reset for Pennsylvania, arriving at Hirschman's Speed Shop Monday night. Tony and Matt Hirschman did an outstanding job! We cannot thank them enough for the hours they spent on the #02, and for getting them back on the road to Virginia within 24 hours. An extra thank you to Gary Kellogg for handling all the driving.
Thanks also to Bob Bruneau, "Mate" Johnson, Jerry Dance, Alan Marshall, Richard Hoylman and Chris Hoylman for their help. It was a total effort by our team and our friends.
Even though it was a disappointment that the race was rained out, it was a good practice, and we got in a few laps before the rain started.
It's a real testament to NASCAR for the mandatory safety equipment, especially the HANS device, and to Troyer for building a quality car.

EARLY CRASH ENDS PROMISING RUN AT ACE
4/14: Altamahaw, NC - T and C Motorsports' night was ended quickly last Friday night as the NASCAR Whelen Modifieds Southern Tour stopped into Ace Speedway. The #02 car was looking good in practice, being scored 11th fastest and then qualifying 15th. The night was cut short when on lap 2 when #47 Andy Seuss got turned sideways across the start/finish line and was T-boned by Emory in the driver's side. It was a scary moment but both drivers were okay afterwards, albeit a little sore. Both Emory and Seuss' race was done and finished 20th and 21st respectively.
Due to the incident, the front clip on the #02 was damaged and will need to be replaced, in doing so, resulted in the team being unable to compete in the Caraway race held the following day as well as being unable to compete in this weekend's race again at Caraway. The #02 team will return to competition July 4th at Caraway Speedway after the NASCAR Whelen Modified tour returns from it's lengtly summer break.
Although there is a large break in the action on the NASCAR side, T and C Motorsports will remain busy and competitive, as they plan to roll back out the #44 modified for races in both the Rolling Thunder Modified Series Presented by Red Man and the B&C Seafood Modified Division at Langley Speedway.
